Gravedigger Biography

Joseph Hansen's writing career spans nearly forty years, with over twenty novels, collections of poetry and innumerable short stories to his name. In 1965 he founded the pioneering homosexual journal Tangents, so his decision to place a gay Private InvestigatorSkinflick at the centre of his crime fiction was not a radical one for him, and the result has been the renowned series of twelve Dave Brandstetter P.I. novels. In 1974 he was awarded a grant by the National Endowment for the Arts and he has lived for a time in England. He now lives in California.
